BHDPS/MSP MCU Detectives during the course of this investigation found evidence,
began to develop strong leads, and to identify a suspect in this murder investigation.
Detectives were very close to submitting for a warrant to the prosecutor for the
boyfriend of victim, Samuel Brown. However, on the evening of 12/10/2019 Shortly
after serving a search warrant at his apartment. Detectives were advised that Samuel Brown took his own life in the City of Saint Joseph.
Detectives have a few details still to wrap up, however this incident started as a
domestic assault that ended in the senseless death of Quintina Jeffries. There is no
evidence that relates this to illegal drugs or gang violence, this was an isolated incident.
BHDPS was assisted by the MSP MCU, FBI VCTF, and Berrien County SO in this
investigation.

The victim in this incident has been identified as a 29 year old female by the name of
Quintina Jeffries. Ms Jeffries was a resident of the City of Benton Harbor and leaves
behind an 8 year old son, as well as other relatives. The results of the autopsy
identified the cause of death as gunfire.
BHDPS Detectives are diligently following up on leads and have interviewed several
people and have had great cooperation with several potential witnesses. More
information is needed however.

(12-8-19) On December 8, 2019 at 11:21AM Benton Harbor officers responded to a call of a female with a head wound at 185 W. May St. in the city of Benton Harbor. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a 29-year-old female had been shot in the head and was deceased upon arrival.
It is currently unknown what circumstances the female was shot, but foul play is
suspected. Her identity will not be released at this time yet in respect for the family.
We are looking for any information regarding this incident that would be helpful to the investigation.
