(7-9-18) This afternoon at 3:36pm the Berrien County Sheriff Office responded to the intersection of US 31Bypass North bound exit ramp and east bound US 12 for a car-motorcycle accident.
A gray Mercury driven by 23 year old Brian Elleott of South Bend, Indiana failed to yield the right of way when entering US 12 and pulled into the path of a Harley Davidson Motorcycle driven by 18 year old Dakota Cowan of Galien, Michigan who was traveling east bound on US 12.
Four passengers occupied the Mercury, Sandra Elleott (58), 35 year old Aaron Elleott (35), Vincent Bowman (10) and Colin Elleott (7). All were treated for minor injuies at the scene, while Colin and Aaron Elleott were transported to Saint Joseph Memorial Hospital in Indiana for more serious injuries.
Both the driver of the motorcycle Dakota Cowan and his passenger Searra Inman (17) of Niles Michigan were seriously injured and also were transported to Saint Joseph Memorial Hospital in Indiana and are listed in critical condition.
This incident is still under investigation by the Berrien County Accident Investigation Team.
