Elkhart County (7-21-21) – Last evening an Elkhart, IN woman, with five children in the vehicle, was arrested for operating while intoxicated and reckless driving after she passed an Indiana State Trooper at more than 100 miles per hour on the US 20 Bypass.

At approximately 7:15 p.m. on July 20, 2021, an Indiana State Trooper was patrolling eastbound on the US 20 Bypass near CR 1 when he saw a white 2009 Buick Enclave catching up to him quickly.  The trooper was able to determine that the Buick was driving at more than 100 miles per hour in the 65 mile per hour zone. As the Buick caught up to the trooper’s unmarked Dodge Charger, it moved to the passing lane and passed the trooper without slowing down.

The trooper stopped the Buick for speeding just east of CR 1.  As the trooper approached the Buick he noticed five children in the Buick found to range in age from 2 years old to 17 years old. While speaking to the driver, later identified as Jasmine Creal, 25 of Elkhart, IN, he purportedly noticed obvious signs of impairment from alcohol.  At the scene Creal was preliminarily found to be more than twice the legal limit for alcohol.

After being taken for a certified test, Creal was preliminarily arrested for Operating While Intoxicated with a Passenger Under 18, Operating While Intoxicated-Endangerment, Operating While Intoxicated, and Reckless Driving.  Creal was then taken to the Elkhart County Jail.  The juveniles were released to an adult that came to the scene.
