On July 10, 2021 at 5:57 p.m. Divers from the Michigan State Police and Berrien County Sheriff Department located the drowning victim, Sammuel Sohn, in Lake Michigan near the North Pier.
(7-8-21) On Thursday July 8, 2021 at 9:58 a.m., Officers from the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety were dispatched to the North Pier at Tiscornia Beach for a male needing help to get off the pier. The waves on Lake Michigan were estimated at 5 feet.
Upon arrival St. Joseph Department of Public Safety did not see anyone on the pier. However, personnel belongings of an 80-year-old male were found floating in Lake Michigan.
While on scene the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety learned from family members that a 80-year-old family member was fishing on the pier and he was missing.
The St. Joseph Department of Public Safety, Berrien County Sheriff Department, USCG, Michigan State Police and Great Lakes Drone Company are actively searching for the missing male.
