(2-3-21) Cass County Sheriff Richard J. Behnke and Animal Control Director Ronald Butts were welcomed by two young visitors at the Animal Shelter on February 1, 2021. Izzie and JR Kennedy, who share a passion for animals, were there to present a birthday donation in memory of their father, John Kennedy, who passed away unexpectedly in 2018.

John, “JK” as he was known as by friends and family, also had a passion for animal welfare. JK was an annual donor, to the shelter, and the reason his children wished to continue the tradition in his honor.

Though a moment of sadness was shared, Izzie and JR were happy to hear that their donations will be put to good use. There are occasions where incoming animals need extra medical care and where members of our community need financial assistance to having their family pet spayed or neutered.

Sheriff Behnke and Director Butts are greatly appreciative of the support from our community and would like to thank not only Izzie and JR, but to everyone who supports our local animal shelter.
