(12-5-20) At 12:50AM on 12/4/20, officers were dispatched to the report of an armed robbery occurring at the Citgo Gas Station at 3176 Niles Rd. in St. Joseph Township.  Security video from the gas station showed that a lone suspect had entered the gas station wearing gloves.  The suspect handed the cashier a note instructing him to give him the money from the cash register.  The suspect also brandished a semi-automatic pistol.  The suspect left the store with an undetermined amount of cash.  No one was injured during the robbery.

Moments after the incident, a vehicle matching the description of the Dodge Charger involved in this robbery was spotted by the Coloma Township police traveling eastbound on I-94.  A pursuit ensued of the vehicle involving several police agencies.  The vehicle pursuit ended in Mattawan, MI where the suspect then fled on foot.  The suspect was apprehended by officers a short time later.

A handgun believed to have been used in the robbery has been recovered along with money stolen in the robbery.

A 24 year old Texas man has been lodged in the Berrien County Jail on charges of armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.  The name of the suspect is being withheld pending his court arraignment.
