(10-9-20) Cass County Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on 10/09/2020 at approximately 11:58am, Deputies were dispatched to a personal injury traffic crash on Monette St near Robinson Rd in Jefferson Twp.

It was reported that a single vehicle traveling eastbound on Monette St, had run off the roadway and struck a tree with possible entrapment. When Deputies arrived on scene, all the passengers were out of the vehicle and being treated by Edwardsburg and Pride Care Ambulance.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Brandon Kevin-Lee Bender (21) from Granger (Ind). There were two passengers that were identified as Brandon Allan Gould (21) from Elkhart, and Tommy Allen Nehls Jr (20) who is also from Elkhart.

Nehls was treated at the scene and Bender was transported by Ambulance to South Bend Memorial for his injuries. Gould was airlifted by Medflight to South Bend Memorial for his injuries.

Assisting at the scene was Edwardsburg Fire Department/ Ambulance and PrideCare Ambulance. Seatbelts were worn by all individuals in the vehicle and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

This crash is still under investigation.
