(6-13-20) Cass County Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that his deputies responded to a personal injury traffic crash this afternoon at approximately 2:17 pm on Bertrand St and Ironwood Rd, Milton Township, Cass County Michigan.
A vehicle driven by Donald Mansell (55) of Elkhart, was traveling eastbound on Bertrand St and disregarded a stop sign at the intersection of Bertrand St and Ironwood Rd. The second driver Kimberly Jann (57) of Niles, was proceeding through the intersecting after stopping at Ironwood Rd and Bertrand St. Mansell did not see the stop sign and struck Jann on the side of her vehicle.
Jann was transported by EMS to South Bend Memorial Hospital for her injuries sustained in the crash.
Seat belts were worn. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor. Airbags did deploy when the crash occurred. This crash remains under investigation.
Deputies were assisted by Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, Niles Township Fire, and SMCAS EMS.
