(4-11-20) On April 10th, 2020 around 10:20pm, Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety officers on patrol in Benton Harbor heard multiple gunshots in the southeast area of the city. Officers responded to the area and also while on route, received multiple 9-1-1 calls.
Officers located Marcas Purnell (19) of Benton Harbor, near the intersection of Cross Street and Bishop Avenue, Purnell was wounded by gunfire and was unresponsive. Purnell was transported to Spectrum-Lakeland Hospital where he later died from his injuries. Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying those responsible for the death of Purnell.
