(3-10-20) The respected website “Trip Advisor” named Silver Beach County Park as one of the top 25 beaches in the United States ,at #24.
According to the website, the award is for the “Best of the Best” and is presented annually to the top1% of select categories. Silver Beach County Park was the only beach on the Great Lakes to be listed.
Berrien County Parks and Recreation Commission Chairman, Dick Schinkel said-
“For Silver Beach County Park to be the only beach on the great lakes listed as a top 25 beach and to be listed with other well known beaches around the United States is astounding!”
Other beaches on the list are on the west coast, east coast and Hawaii. Schinkel pointed out that-
“it truly is the park staff and the team-work of the managers, lifeguards, rangers and maintenance that support each other along with the assistance of the Berrien County Sheriff Department, our concession operators, and our business partners……it is a team effort that makes this beach special.”
Schinkel also said that, in his opinion, Berrien County Parks are all very special and it is the entire region and offerings that make Berrien County the place to live, work and play. With all the parks, wineries, restaurants, vineyards, local farm tours, brewpubs, carousel, casino, hotels and our 44 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, that is what attracts folks to Berrien County.
Silver Beach County Park is in the company of many well-known beaches. On the list, number one is Siesta Key beach in Florida with number 25 being Coronado beach in California. Other recognizable beaches include, Clearwater Beach, Florida, Myrtle Beach, North Carolina and Ruby Beach, Olympic National Park Washington.
