(8-12-19) UPDATED

The suspect arrested for (2) counts of Illegal Entry was arraigned in Berrien County Trial Court today.

He has been identified as:

CHARLES EDWARD ANDERSON, (43) of Post Ct., Bridgman as well as S. Main St. in Berrien Springs.  ANDERSON pled not guilty to the charges and is due back in court on Aug. 27th.

(8-10-19) Bridgman Police was dispatched to a home on Orchard St. at approximately 9:45pm Thursday night after the homeowners arrived home and discovered a male inside a bedroom.  After confronting the man, he left the house and fled the area on foot.  Bridgman P.D. along with Baroda-Lake Twp. & Chikaming Twp. P.D.’s searched the area for the suspect with negative results.

Approximately 3 hours later, Bridgman P.D. was dispatched to another residence in the 9700 blk. of Baldwin Rd. after another homeowner was woke up by their dog barking.  They then discovered a man inside their residence and upon confronting the suspect, he fled again on foot. The Lincoln Twp. Police K-9 unit was requested to track the suspect.  A short time later, “Echo” and his handler; Off. Dave Burrow located the suspect laying in the yard behind a nearby shed.  The suspect, who matched the description of the earlier intruder on Orchard St. was taken into custody without incident and subsequently lodged in the Berrien County Jail on 2 separate counts of Illegal Entry.

It appears the suspect was able to enter both homes through unlocked doors.  Neither home sustained any damage and both owners advised officers that nothing appeared missing.  We would like to remind residents to lock their homes and vehicles as well as report all suspicious activity.

The suspect is a 43-yr. old man who resides in Bridgman and Berrien Springs.  His name will not be released until after he is arraigned if charges are authorized.
