(6-27-19) On Wednesday 6-27-2019 members of the Southwest Enforcement Team, Michigan State Police, South Haven Police Department, and Allegan County Sheriff Department conducted an arrest operation at 201 73th St (Walmart) in the city of South Haven
John Louis Booker (24) was arrested following a two month investigation into the distribution of crystal meth in the City of South Haven and the City of Paw Paw. As a result of this operation SWET detectives seized approximately six (6) ounces of crystal meth. During the operation, a vehicle pursuit ensued between Booker and several marked police vehicles for various agencies. Booker eventually fled his vehicle on foot however was quickly apprehended with the assistances from K9 units.
Javon Mitchell was a passenger in Booker’s car during this operation. Mitchell was arrested on a unrelated outstanding warrant.
John Louis Booker was lodged in Van Buren County Jail on the following charges:
- Delivery of Methamphetamine 2nd -4 counts
- Possession with intent to deliver crystal meth 2nd
- Flee and Elude Police
- Resisting and Obstructing Police
- Destruction of evidence
The Southwest Enforcement Team (SWET) is comprised of sworn law enforcement personnel from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, Allegan Police Department, Allegan County Sheriff’s Office, Barry County Sheriff’s Office, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Covert Township Police Department, Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, Kalamazoo Township Police Department, Michigan State Police, South Haven Police Department, Saint Joseph County Sheriff’s Office, and Sturgis Police Department.
