(7-5-18) A Berrien County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a vehicle for a defective equipment issue on US 12 near Wilson Road in New Buffalo Township. The Deputy located some Drug Paraphernalia in plain view and took the driver into custody. A handgun was then located under the driver’s seat.
Other Departments then responded to the incident to assist. LaPorte County (Ind) Sheriff’s Department came to the scene and noticed the vehicle matched the description of a vehicle used in an Armed Robbery in Michigan City (Ind). Michigan City law enforcement officials came to the scene and confirmed the vehicle was used in their Armed Robbery.
A 46 year old male from Michigan City was lodged at the Berrien County Jail. A 49 year old male from Michigan City was also in the vehicle and being interviewed by Detectives.
The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department is working with the Michigan City Police Department in this ongoing case.
