(5-31-18) This morning at 6:23 am, personnel from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office along with other First Responders were dispatched to a residence in the 3900 block of Fikes Rd. (Township of Hagar) in regards to an infant child not breathing.
When the first responders arrived at the residence, they determined that a 6 week old child was deceased.
The investigation into this death is on-going and is being conducted by members of the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday June 1, 2018 at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker School of Medicine.
The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene of this investigation by the Michigan State Police, the State of Michigan’s Child Protective Services, and Pride Care Ambulance.
Upon completion of the investigation, the report will be forwarded to the Berrien County Prosecutor’s Office for review, which is customary in suspicious death investigations.
