(1-6-23) It is that time of year when we prepare for the future runners…the process is important and one that can impact the owner of both a stud and a broodmare.
Below, thanks to equineline.com, you can see the top 100 sires that were based on 2022 earnings. We have added some extra lists using those numbers from that list.
These four lists of Top 10 sires include the sires with the most starters, most wins and most stake wins. The rank on the left of these lists is what the sire was ranked in earnings, this allows you to compare the other categories.
Sires by country on the list….
USA 62, Japan 21, Ireland 7, Great Britain 4, Australia 4, Argentina 1 and France 1.
One sire who appears in all four categories Top 10’s is Into Mischief (USA), #3 in earnings, #2 in stake winners, #2 in overall winners and #2 by starters. If you have $250,000 you can have him for your broodmare to foal your next winner.
Lord Kanaloa (Japan) shows up as the #2 in earnings, #1 winners and #1 in starters. But with just 10 stakes winners he is outside the Top 10 in a tie at 25th. If you can afford JPYen 15,000,000 ($113,563.27 – USD)
