(10-23-19) On Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at approximately7:15AM the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office along with several area police agencies responded to an unknown injury crash on I-94 near the 33 mile marker in Benton Charter Township. The crash involved a semi-truck car hauler (2007 Mack Truck) that is owned by SLT Logistics out of Alto Michigan, the semi lost two of its tires and one of those tires struck Kevin White (48) from Benton Township, he was employed by MDOT and also served as the Township Supervisor for Benton Charter Township. White was working along the side of the highway.
White was transported to Spectrum Lakeland Hospital in St Joseph were he passed away due to his injuries.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
The driver of the semi, a 29 year old male out of Wyoming Michigan, remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
