sneeze

(6-4-18) Lake County (Indiana) – A semi driver rolled her tanker over yesterday evening on I-65 at the 247.8 mile marker (this is near the Crown Point exit) after having a “sneezing fit”, which closed the right lane for over eight hours.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Zach Beaver revealed at approximately 6:20 p.m., yesterday, June 3rd, 2018, a 2012 Volvo semi pulling a tanker trailer, owned by Highway Transport out of Knoxville, Tennessee, and driven by Julie Duncan, 55 of Canton, Michigan was south bound on I-65 in the left lane in a construction zone.

Duncan stated she had a “sneezing fit” while trying to talk to Siri on her phone.  She looked up and saw that she was going to hit construction barrels so swerved to avoid them.  Duncan swerved sharply to the right and felt the load (cleaning solution) shift which caused her semi/tanker to roll over.

The cleaning solution had to be off-loaded into another tanker before the semi/tanker could be up-righted.  The right lane was closed for approximately eight hours.

Duncan was wearing her seat belt and was not injured.  She was cited for Unsafe lane Movement.
