(7-3-24) On July 2, 2024, at approximately 8:31 PM, first responders were dispatched to a traffic crash with serious injuries in the 3000 block of S. 11th Street in Niles Township. The collision involved a
commercial dump truck and a passenger car.
Upon arrival, deputies and medical first responders discovered the driver of the passenger car
entrapped and not breathing. Despite their efforts, the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene
shortly thereafter.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Team was summoned to investigate the incident. Preliminary findings indicate that the passenger car was exiting a private driveway onto S. 11th Street and failed to yield to the oncoming dump truck, resulting in the collision.

The deceased driver has been identified as a 69-year-old man from Granger, IN. However, his identity is currently being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The crash remains under investigation by the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office.
