(8-1-23) Quarter Horse racing is way ahead of those in the thoroughbred business when it comes to producing top-notch racers and preserving the great horses of the sport.

Hall of Fame Stallion Mr Jess Perry ((Streakin La Jolla – Scoopie Fein, by Sinn Fein)) is just on those examples. The stallion was born in 1992 and passed away in 2017…6 years ago. Yet he is listed in the recent Speedhorse Magazine as one of the top producing stallions of 2-year olds in 2023.

Mr Jess Perry had victories in the $961,418 Texas Classic Futurity (G1) and the $167,782 LQHBA Futurity (RG1). He was honored as AQHA Racing Champion 2-Year-Old and Champion 2-Year-Old Colt in 1994. In his 3-year old campaign, Mr Jess Perry was victorious in the $335,867 Texas Classic Derby (G1), ending his racing career with a record of 12 wins from 21 starts and earnings of $687,184.

Mr Jess Perry is the sire of world champion Apollitical Jess and six other champions: One Famous Eagle, Noconi, Miss Racy Jess, Fredricksburg, Fredaville and Matabari, who remains his top earner with $1,410,471. He sired 2010 All American Futurity (G1) champion, Mr Piloto, who also retired as a millionaire. His son, Mpshinning won the 2018 LQHBA Louisiana Million for Grant Farms of Pineville.

Mr Jess Perry frozen semen is still available (by private treaty) from Four Sixes Ranch…that will allow his bloodline to continue.

Had it not been for AI being allowed by AQHA Mr Jess Perry‘s top 2-year old Dezigner Jeanz ( QH, SOR, F, foaled February 16, 2021 ( Mr Jess Perry – All N the Jeans, by Corona Cartel ) would not have ever had this opportunity. So far this year she is four for four on the track including a convincing win at Remington Park in the $100,000 Juvenile in April.

Thanks to AQHA allowing AI and embryo transfer Viva La Blue has four of her offspring as a part of the yearling sale. Something you would never see (yet) in the thoroughbred world.
