(4-6-23) A British syndicate group, Middleham Park Racing , is considering an once-in-a-lifetime shot at the 2023 Kentucky Derby thanks to Brave Emperor. The 3-year old gelding picked up a win in the Road to the Kentucky Derby Conditions Stakes on March 15th at Kempton Park in England and would finish second in the final race of the series, the Cardinal Stakes, at Chelmsford on Saturday. That gave him the most points in the European leg of the Road To The Kentucky Derby,
Middleham Park partner Tom Palin told the Irish Mirror–
“We are waiting to receive a couple of quotes on air fares and stabling and then we can talk to the owners as to whether to take it on or not. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to have a horse guaranteed a run in the Kentucky Derby so this is something we should take seriously.
“Ultimately it comes down to whether the owners want to spend all the prize-money he has earned to experience a few fantastic days in America.”

What makes Brave Emperor so special? He is the great-great grandson of ‘Big Red‘ Secretariat. Fifty years ago in 1973 Secretariat set the thoroughbred world on fire winning the Triple Crown.
Brave Emperor, who is trained by Archie Watson, was purchased for ÂŁ19,000 ($23,643.60 US), has won ÂŁ108,000 (134,396.28 US) from winning five out of eight races
