(7-13-20) On Sunday July 12, 2020 at 4:39 p.m., Officers from the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety were dispatched to Lions Park Beach for the report of a water rescue in Lake Michigan.
It was reported that two sisters aged 29 and 32 from Illinois were in the water at Lions Park Beach, when they got into deep water and struggled to get out. Several bystanders observed the incident and assisted.
They were both transported to Spectrum Health Lakeland, the 29-year-old was treated and released and the 32-year-old female remains in critical condition.
The St. Joseph Department of Public Safety will continue to give updates on the condition of the 32-year-old female.
